New Year's Resolutions and Songwriting: A Workshop with Kacie Swierk The holiday season can often race us to the end of the year. With calendars full of deadlines, commitments, and events, it can be hard to make time for our art in the bustle. With this December workshop, I seek to offer a space to explore how songwriting might exist for us in the new year. Both with reflection and conjecture, we’ll first ask why songwriting matters: the world is inundated with writers - why us too? Then, using a worksheet as a guide, we’ll seek to set individual goals based on how we’d like songwriting to exist in our life over the next twelve months. In addition to discussion, we’ll dive into various writing exercises with the hope of offering some ideas for your daily or weekly practices.
*All levels of songwriting experience welcomed (including just an interest!)
*Please bring a notebook and a pencil for the writing exercises!

Fit City Kids
Fit City Kids - 2540 W Lawrence Avenue
Fit City Kids has 2 amazing 8 week programs starting the week of January 6th for all of the older kids looking to stay active and get stronger this winter.
S.W.E.A.T. (ages 8-12) M: 4-5:30PM
Strength.
Work ethic.
Emotional and Mental Awareness.
Attitude.
Teamwork.SWEAT combines the fundamentals of working out with life lessons you learn by being a part of a team. Each 8-week session will be themed around a specific book that will help kids understand the importance of taking care of their mind, body, and emotions while understanding perspectives and roles of a team dynamic. This class is great for kids already in sports or those that aren’t interested in sports and looking to belong to a team.
This session’s book is from the GREAT, late Kobe Bryant & his media company, Granity Studios. “WIZENARD is a basketball story about a local community team who gets a new coach with magical powers. But there are no easy answers in the magic- it will take lots of hard work to make them into winners- both on & off the court. We think the student athletes will relate to their struggles & their dreams. Their successes & their challenges. And we know they’ll love the action."
Though this book is themed around basketball, our class is not. The fitness class will be themed around the lessons in each chapter and how to work together as a team while also getting better as individuals.
All of Coach Kim's classes focus on strengthening the 7 Foundational Movements (Squat, Hinge, Lunge, Push, Pull, Carry and Crawl) to set themselves up for success in whatever way they like to move their bodies!
*Book will be provided for all enrollees*
