    The new Small Cheval has already greeted customers, Del Sur Bakery hit its fundraising goal and Irene’s Finer Diner is planning a spring reopening.

    LINCOLN SQUARE — A much-anticipated bakery is gearing up to open this spring in Lincoln Square after hitting a fundraising goal, while a few other neighborhood restaurants closed, but some only temporarily, at the end of last year. 


    Small Cheval, 2156 W. Montrose Ave., officially opened its Lincoln Square location Thursday to diners, an employee confirmed to Block Club on a phone call.

    The new location has been in the works since 2023. Now that it’s open, it will have the same hours, 11 a.m.-10 p.m., as the burger chain’s five other locations, according to the employee.

    The owners of Gather, 4539 N. Lincoln Ave., and Sojourn, 4614 N. Lincoln Ave., in Lincoln Square and Arun’s Thai Restaurant, 4156 N. Kedzie Ave., in Albany Park all announced their closures within weeks of each other in December. Read More Here.
